索尼娅·B. ‘28 has always felt a strong connection to the community. She recalled on one of her first days at Poly, a girl she had just met took her on a tour around the school. Since then, her ties to friends and school have only increased. Sonia has also grown to love literature and writing both in and out of the classroom and has found all her English teachers to be interesting. 这学期她请了Mr. 查克Nwoke for English and noted that he “leads very engaging class conversations.”
Sonia is a contributing writer and pens opinions for 多边形, Poly’s student newspaper, which is open to both Upper and Middle schoolers. She sees it as an outlet for her love of English and as a way of contributing to the Poly community. 她最喜欢的一个 articles she’s written for 多边形 was a critique about the backlash women in the music industry, like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, receive for writing about breakups. She loves how the student-run newspaper gives her a chance to express her opinions. “I want my voice to be heard.她还说. Racheal艾伦的指导老师 多边形, is very encouraging of young writers. “She’s always posting new journalism opportunities.” Sonia said it feels “great” knowing there is someone like Ms. Allen who wants her to succeed.
Beyond English and writing for 多边形, Sonia says she loves the campus and is still surprised at how big it is. “I really love it here,” she said. “去聚!”
